MWC'S 1st INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT

Malton Women Council celebrated the 101 years of International Women's Day on March 6th 2012, in Dunrankin Drive Public School's Readiness Centre. On this day, the Council thanked and recognized the women for their amazing contribution towards building 'Happy, Healthy and Strong Homes and Communities' - by putting their endless hours in taking care of their children and their families.

The women from the Dunrankin Drive Readiness Centre Community and the Gr. 5 girls of the school gave a vibrant start to the event by drumming, singing and dancing together. Adding to the grace of the event were present Ms. Helene Burrowes and Councillor Bonnie Crombie(Ward 5). Councillor Crombie shared with Gr. 5 girls about the significance of the International Women's Day; about the contributions made by the women in different facets of life; about the contributions made by their mothers and grandmothers in shaping their life and that how these young girls can achieve whatever they aspire for by 'believing in themselves'.

Malton Women Council appreciated and recognized Ms. Helene Burrowes for her sincerity and commitment towards building a healthy and vibrant Malton.
The women were awarded certificates of appreciation by the Malton Women Council, the City of Mississauga and the Four Corners Health Centre - for making amazing contributions towards building a healthy community by taking care of their families and their friends in exceptional ways.
