UEY MALTON PHOTOVOICE PROJECT

Malton Photovoice Project

Photovoice Malton was a grassroots community based initiative conducted under the Understanding the Early Years (UEY) Malton Project. During the summers of 2009, two groups of Malton residents. 24 women from Dunrankin Drive Readiness Centre community and 16 youth from Lincoln M. Alexander Secondary School participated in this project. Using cameras, the participants focussed on the areas of interest and need in Malton.

Malton Photovoice for Women Project was really an empowering experience for these 24 women, who are now the part of the Malton Women Council. The Project provided these women a platform where they could express themselves through their photographs and were able to share their experiences with one another and were able to come together as a STRENGTH!

The Photovoice Exhibit was on display at various locations accross Mississauga which included – H.J.A.Brown Education Centre, Mississauga City Hall, Malton Community Centre, Mississauga Living Arts Centre, Westwood Mall and schools.
