Celebrating Our History!

As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations; we would like to share with you another jewel from the ‘treasure box of our history’.
It is rightly said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’ Our pictures became our voice when a group of 24 women from Dunrankin Drive Readiness Centre Community participated in the Peel District School Board’s Understanding the Early Years Malton Photovoice Project in July and August of 2009. This 7-week project resulted in the compilation of pictures and stories which were exhibited at Malton Community Centre, Peel District School Board HJA Brown Education Centre and at various schools and community events within Peel. Little did we know that this coming together as a women’s support group would become the foundation of a community-based women’s organization. Malton Photovoice Project for Women-2009 is a significant chapter in the inception years of Malton Women Council.
